Default Power Trunk Upgrade for US Models?

Anybody know how this can be done?

Can't you just order the parts from outside the US, and install it, just like if you were fixing a non-US model? What would the parts cost? I can't imagine the wiring is part of the harness that is already there?

I'd be 100% on board with this conversion. I HATE our manual trunks!

I picked up my new GS this afternoon, and the manual trunk is actually easier to close than my 06 GS. Mine was produced in October, so the TSB on the trunk was done in production.

Still, I'd really like to have that power closer. The fact that it's available on the ES, but not the GS, is a disgrace. They made some stupid decisions in the head office. Fortunately, this negative about the car is overwhelmed by the number of positives...I've found A LOT of improvements since the 06, and I've only had the car for a few hours!

MANUAL close trunk make the 4GS look cheap compare to E Class & 5 Series. Especially when walk out the mall with shopping bags and you have to close the GS trunk while other just press the button.

Trade offs. All part of life. But a mod to power would be cool.

I wonder if we can use parts from the 2013 ES ? I highly doubt that they are different...

I'd be curious to know what this would cost. If reasonable, I would go for it as well.

Was there a TSB on the trunk? This is the first I heard about it. Can anyone provide details on this? Thanks

yes, trunks with spoiler (f sport) will have the hinges and rubber pieces replaced. trunks without spoilers will only have the rubber pieces replaced. it's supposed to make it easier to close the trunk. rubber pieces meaning the 4 rubber pieces along the inside lip of the trunk. i always called them stoppers.

next thing you guys will be asking for is a button to close the door. Some people are so lazy!
