I have had my 2013 Lexus for about 7 weeks but I haven't driven it a ton - only about 1800 km.
A few weeks ago, on consecutive days, I had the Nav/computer crash on me. One day the maps started to go all scrambled, as if the monitor was set for the wrong refresh frequency. The right third of the screen, which normall shows your audio info was ok. But I had to shut off the car and restart to get the maps to come back.
The next day the entire system become totally unresponsive to the joystick and seems to have frozen.
Has anyone else seen this behaviour?

The car was otherwise fine - it is just the Nav screen/ enternatinment computer that was on the fritz. When I experienced these troubles I turned the car off and on at a red light and there really didn't seem to be any issue with the batttery having the power to start the car.

Mentioning the backup camera brings up another issue. When the car is started for the first 15-20 seconds the screen displays "phone connected" and some other messages in the top 1" or so. But this is the time when you need the backup camera as you will be backing out of your parking spot and a good portion of the camera's view is blocked by these messages.
Is there any way to turn the messages off?

well, I joined they club today. My Nav was frozen for an hour. It's still frozen now. When I press the menu button the screen is blank. When I shut the car off, the screen stays for a while. I hope my battery is not drained by morning.

I had a similar issue with my screen 5 days after buying my car. When mine happened when I turned the car off the screen still looked lit like it did in your picture.
Here is what it looked like when on:

They reset the battery to no avail. The head unit was fine just turned out to be a bad LCD screen which they replaced a couple weeks ago. Sounds exactly like what is happening to you except my screens death was a bit more sudden.
