So it's like 20 degrees here and my car was white, I took to a car wash what a mistake now I have scratches, they are light which I think I can buff out but there are two scratches that are a little deeper. I'm so pissed I will post pics later.

Yeah this is the worst situation to take your car to a carwash in, the carwash apparatus is all caked with the salt and sand from all the other cars.

Sorry to hear that especially with a brand new ride. I hand wash only. Warm water and soap. I even turn down those free washes at Lexus. Don't want those people wiping with dirty towels. You'll be alright. Some light rubbing compound will probably work like a champ.

Hand wash & touch less car wash only. Look for hard body coat that other members here mention.

i know it's been cold but if you can't wash it yourself... then don't touch it. a detailing friend of mine told me that anything that comes in contact with your paint... scratches it.

Thats absolutely true. You're better off leaving it dirty, salt is inert below freezing anyways.

Do you have a garage? If so, you could always use a product like Optimum No Rinse. I did mine in the garage today, I took it to the touchless first because it was so filthy.

I'm also not one of these people that avoids carwashes, I used to be but I unfortunately don't have the time to be as **** as I used to be. I do have an automatic carwash I use, which is very good, uses all microfiber towels, etc. But I would avoid a carwash when its been snowy and the roads have been salted just because of all that crap being drug across the paint.

Carwash will always scratch your car, good ones keep it to a minimum but it will always happen.

Yes I have garage and I usually take it to a touchless car wash but today was to cold as I usually dry the car off and all. Yeah I have a full four step meguiar's kit so I plan to use it when it gets warmer this week I will put it on in my garage. I def wish I never went there but can't take that back. I tried to take pics but its hard to see in a pic but when standing in front with the light shining on it you can the million scratches on the car.

Absolutely, used it for years and buy it by the gallon. Its a great product. I personally still get the car sprayed off with the touchless first in the winter, but I know detailers who don't even do that.

They have a new "No Rinse Wash and Wax" that I haven't used, but I hear good things.

I would get a microfiber sponge to use with the ONR, and some nice waffle weave MF towels.

I second this product.
Unless your car is caked with dirt, I use this. Best part is that I can use it in the garage (when it is cold outside)

Wash one panel at a time and clean the wash mitt thoroughly between panels (or sooner if you see it is getting dirty) - two bucket grit guard method, and dry off each panel after washing it.
I've been using ONR for my GS since I got it almost a year ago, and never went back to the regular washing method.

Tip: Keep a spray bottle with ONR+Water (higher concentration - I use 4x regular concentration) handy - use as a quick detailer in case you see a little dirt here or there that you want to tackle, without having to wash the entire car.

Thats why I love White, yeah I am scratching my clear coat but you can't see it like you can on your car!!!! I have been there and done that with black.

Ok so I had the day off so I decided to go to the carwash and make a complaint as they are a big chain car wash here. They are offering to buff it out should I let, I'm a little scared they may make it worse, I was thinking I should make them pay for a detail of my choice. What are your all views, all suggestions are welcome

I would absolutely not let them buff it. Thats horror looking for a place to happen.

Make them give you money towards a detailer of your choice.
