In fact, the IS has always been based off the GS. That new IS is a modified shrunken 4th Gen GS platform.

Heres a question for you, what would make you choose the IS over the GS, if both were out right now?

- absolute dollar value will probably be lower on the IS still
- 8 speed likely have better gas mileage
- fancier gauge (i like it, others might not)
- smaller car and should handle better

+1 and would add the new IS has grown in size making a bit closer to the GS. We are going to have a tough choice when the car she has a depo on comes in. I think however if the 14 GSFS was out it would be a no brainer if it had the 8 speed and gauge option.
