I had the M37 prior to the GS. I lost the M37 during hurricance Sandy.
having driven both cars, its a tough call. But I can definitely the GS feel faster, and sounds better. The GS has more mid range punch, where as the M might be a little quicker off the line
Having test driven both cars, the GS350 handles better, & corners quicker, IMO. Might not be the fastest on a straight, but it's one of the better ones on hard corners.

This is a Infiniti M35, I actually wanted one but went with a Lexus GS. Attachment 275005
I have fond memories of this car. I had an '08 M35 Sport in black. It drove fantastic but had a lot more road noise than the 4GS. Still a great car, and I still like the looks better than the current one, but the 4GS is a definite step up.
They're both much slower than a similarly-priced Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 or Ford Mustang Shelby GT500.
Yes, but this is a totally different class. If I wanted to look at the hard plastic interior in the Camaro or the shiny plastic chrome in the Mustang just for more speed I would have gone that route. A Miata for $30k less handles better than the 4GS, but I have no plans to trade.
