235/45R18 Michelin Tire Failure
I'm wondering if anyone has had any issues with the 18" Michelin tires (235/45R18)?
On 3/1, my left rear tire blew out on the interstate without any prior warning.
No low pressure warning from TPMS.
My car (tires) only have approx. 2400 miles.
My current assessment is there was either a design flaw or a manufacturing defect.

Sorry to hear. No issues after 6000 miles, you may just be unlucky enough to have one tire that was defected. Or, you may have ran over a sharp object that you didn't know about, prior, & high speed just caused it to fail.

not necessarily, could have been a bunch of other reason, could have been weight on the tire or over pressure in the tire. If you inspected the tire I would try to contact your dealer and Michelin to go further. I don't believe the sensor will go off for a blown tire, it may go on after but not anything to warn you.

I'm sure I didn't hit anything and the tire pressures were OK when I left home.
This was an all of a sudden rapid air loss condition.
I'm going to go over the failed tire in much detail tonight.
I'm going to check the DOT to see which plant the tire was made in.
I have contacted the Lexus dealership and will take the car in tomorrow.

On a side note - I had a 2007 IS that had 2 blowouts in the first 15,000. I complained to the local dealership telling them that I felt unsafe. They replaced all 4 tires free of charge. Lexus customer services is the best!

Things like this happens. Its not the tire's fault. You probably had a low leak that led to the rupure. The Michelin Primacy MXM4 is one of the most reputable and regarded tire from the best tire company on the market. I have those same tires on my 19 inch F-sport and they are excellent and I am tire guy and know whats a good and bad tire.
