Default Small Gas Tank

Why did Lexus choose to put a relatively small gas tank in the new GS, only 66 liters? The E class comes with an 80 liter tank and the 5 series has a 70 liter tank. For me the trip from the western suburbs of Toronto and downtown Montreal is now completed on fumes!

Is this some sort of LFA design principle?

Weight reduction or maybe it has something to do with the trunk space. The trunk got bigger on this model. Either way, the gas tank is smaller even compared to the 3GS (the previous model)

i'll go with this... weight reduction and increased trunk space.

Just filled up today and as usual the range given is about 332mi, plenty of distance for what is considered a small tank. More than enough for me at least.

There are 2 bins under the floor of the trunk, I wish those bins were gas tank. It would give between 4 and 6 extra liters and some extra fuel to burn.

Hey folks, if it makes you feel better I average about 12-13mpg in my city driving. So when I fill up my tank, my "distance to empty" reads about 210 miles. Yeah. (note I converted my numbers from l/100km which we use in Canada. For Canadians, I'm at 18.6 l/100km and 320km dte when full).

That's ok because for the amount of driving I do it's still only filling up 1-2x a month.

BTW Zico: Welcome to the forum. Where in Toronto are you and what'd you buy? I'm in the Lawrence Park area and have the red F-Sport AWD.

Some real lead feet on here. I know the sound is intoxicating but try to slow down occasionally. Or don't complain about burning through gas.

Edmunds just did a long trip with their fsport, check MPG results out

Mehran888, thank-you i am out in Oakville and I bought a nebula grey AWD with the tech package. One advantage with the smallish tank is that it makes fill-ups short . The disadvantage is that I will have to fill-up when I make those trips to le Centre Bell for the Stanley Cup Finals and the parade down St. Catherines Street this spring .
