Default 5 Ticks for Me

I took the car in for its first oil change and spa. I asked the dealer to change the number of ticks when the turn signal is tapped from 3 to 5. i also had some other questions

When I returned to pick up the car the technician had a smirk on his face he said he learned something today. The dealer used some internal interface to adjust the the turn signal to 5 and it is the perfect number of ticks for changing lanes on the highway.

I did it myself. Thanks to the wealth of information shared here.

Like you, I had mine done at 5,000 miles service too and you're correct in 5 being the perfect lane change blink. What I didn't know then, is that you can also change to volume of the clicker. Had I known that, I would have had mine turned down a couple notches. On the highway it fine but at a red light, the volume of the clicker is a little obnoxious. Next time, I'll have that done too.

Yeah, but the process to do it yourself, was along the lines of OCD. Turn the lights off/on 7 times while jumping up and down on your left foot, while sticking your tongue out....etc.

Regarding the steps:

1) Get in your car
2) Drive to the Lexus dealer
3) Tell the service technician the number of ticks you want

Not sure how to post a .PDF on here, but the adjustment procedure is:

1. ignition OFFi HOLD the wiper switch in the all the way up (OFF) position,
2. turn the Ignition ON, engine not running, and continue to HOLD the wiper switch in the OFF position for 5 seconds or more
3. Move the wiper switch down 1 position and for 5 seconds or more
4. Move the wiper switch up to the OFF position and Hold for 5 seconds or more
5. Move the wiper switch down 1 position and Hold for 5 seconds or more
6. Release the wiper switch. The right turn signal should flash 1 time
7. Place the intermittent wiper rotary switch in one of the following 4 positions

P1 - all the way down = 3 flashes
P2 - 1 up from the bottom = 5 flashes
P3 - 2 up from the bottom = 7'flashes
P4 - All the way up no flashes

8. Pull the turn signal switch down to the lane change position (not the turn
signal posilion) and release. The left turn signal should flash 2 - 4 times.
9. Turn the ignition OFF and then start the Car and test

+1 I agree that's a long dam list. Is there a paper like the 3GS to check off what you want programmed.

Actually Bigblack06, the dealer did hand me a list of programmable options for me to tick off, but alas nothing about configuring the number of ticks on the turn signal. So best to just ask kindly at your next service stop, because that is one mind-boggling set of instructions.
