It's hilarious that you thought the GS was a compromise (I traded an Audi S5 Cab for mine and it is apples to oranges but no compromise), but I'm glad you like it and have found it to be the overall equivalent of your 5 Series.

Your GS is beautiful and is precisely the combo I would have chosen had I gone with the Luxury Package. That light gray and Espresso wood are dynamite. Enjoy your brief hiatus from BMW, and who knows... maybe you will choose to stay with Lexus in the long term!

Welcome!

sooo.. that didnt last too long

just leased a 2013 bmw 550i on saturday. i was previously looking at getting back into a bmw from about a month ago, however the dealer told me my lexus had about $5K negative equity. so in the last month i was trying to swap the lease. i found somebody on craigslist about a month ago. the process has been slow to say the least. they sent me the paperwork. we filled it out together. she overnighted it. they approved her credit and sent me a follow up packet. i signed a few things and gave her the packet. she signed a few things, provided proof of insurance, registration, and a check for $200. she overnighted it on friday. now it takes another week or so for lexus to process the lease transfer, but at this point i was confident to go ahead and purchase a new car. i really wanted a 13 550i as the 14 m sport's have been made with M sport suspension (big deal over at the bimmerfest website). that combined with the fact that i got a great deal on a 13 in my perfect color combo (alpine white/cinammon) got me to do the deal on saturday.

nothing wrong with the lexus, i just didnt feel it. plus i wanted more HP
MSRP: $75K
selling price: $66K (still qualified for loyalty since i traded in my last bmw in april)
MF: .00076 (after 7 multiple security deposits)
RV: 57% (15k/yr)
$1600 (first month payment, doc fee, dealer fee) + refundable security deposit paid at the time. payment for 3 yrs 15k/yr is $750 + tax. not too bad.

car is equipped as such:
M sport
Executive (soft close doors, HUD, ceramic controls, premium sound, plus more)
driver assistance (blind spot and top view)
a few other options

either way its been a fund 4 months, but excited to be back in a BMW.

Why not get the M class? If HP was what you really wanted

the biggest reason is that i lease. the RV on the M5 is 50% while being about $40K more expensive. with an inexpensive tune i'll be making similar HP. i honestly didnt see the reason to pay about $500 more a month for an M5. maybe next time

How much in essence were they offering to take the GS off of you (if you didn't swap your lease)?

Congrats in the 550i...although the 2014s have more power and the Msport susp will be avail starting with Sept builds.

Please post a review when u have a chance of the GS vs 5 Msport susp in terms of handling/steering feel.

I have a 535i with Msport susp and it handles awesome esp compared to my old 2012 528i. You will be very happy.

I like how you think. If I were to get a BMW, I'd get am M5. As for a Benzo, the C63 AMG really caught my eye a few weekends ago.

But I still love my GS. Really tested the suspension and brakes this weekend.

^5. If I was to get a Bimmer, it'd be an M series and like you, an AMG for a Benz. The C63 is a nice looking car, I'd like to drive one

I did consider an m5 for a few mins. In previous years you got a bigger engine. However this year it's essentially the same engine with some tweaks. Yes you get the dct, but honestly the 8 Spd sport auto is amazing. Combined with the fact that turbo engines can easily be tuned to produce much greater hp numbers kept me in the 550i. But honestly the biggest deterant was the price. The lease payment would have gone up from $750 to about $1300. Just didnt see the m5 as $550/month better
