I am sure the New IS will be a nice car, but the issue I've always had with it was the size. It's just so damn small, even for people who are average height it's cramped. The rear seat was essentially useless unless you were under 10 years old.

The AWD GS F-Sport is nearly $60,000 with typical options. The AWD IS F-Sport is going to be more like nearly $50,000...so $10,000 which is not a inconsiderable difference.

The new one is considerably bigger, especially in the rear seat.

The GS has everthing you want, including for road trips. I'm skeptical about the IS for a long drive. Anyone driven one for a 2-3 day road trip?

You should sit in the new IS before you decide that. The new IS is significantly larger than the previous IS.

To be honest the only reason I'd get the IS 350 over the GS is the F-sport for those LFA gauges and if you want a smaller/tidier car. Reviews have been pretty great for the IS but the option packages I'm seeing make it harder for me to purchase. The GS lets you have your cake and eat it too compared to the IS.

I would choose GS over the new IS. I saw the new IS in person. Looks great and sporty, but for me GS is still a step up from IS unless you want a smaller car with those latest LFA gauges as mentioned by Blue. I can't comment about the new IS on road trips but we have taken the GS on road trips a few times and the drives have been effortless. I have not heard a single "complaint" from my passengers and myself. BTW the front seats on Lux model have 18 adjustable ways. I don't use them all but some of them really make a difference. We used to take the RX on road trips before the GS came and all of us usually start to feel the discomfort after an hour or two. My feel is that the new IS probably won't give you the road trip comfort that GS offers. In any way, they both are great cars.

Since I am new to Lexus I can't tell you which to go with, but I do have an interesting view point on one paticular color. When I was in the process of buying my GS 350 about 3 weeks ago I was trying to make a deal on a'13 Fire Agate Pearl. Another salesman at another dealership told me this about the color...when it's new and clean it's the Lexus name "Fire Agate Pearl", but when it gets some age on it and it's dirty it's just a "brown Lexus".

I thought about it and I realized he was right! I didn't want a brown Lexus so I changed to Satin Cashmere Metallic...gold! Neither color was my first choice, which was Nebula gray Pearl, but every GS 350 they had in my preferred color was "loaded" and out of my price range.

I'm still kind of "luke warm" on the color I ended up with, but coming from what USE to be my color of choice, black, this color is MUCH easier to keep clean and it doesn't show scratches like black. Also, to me the color looks elegant, but some days I have to admit it looks kinda "old-mannish"...I'm 45.

The wheelbase on the IS is now pretty much the same as the GS, so small no more!
