Default 1 year service, 5K miles

My GS will be 1 year old in 2 weeks and should hit 5,000 miles about that time.

Should the 10K service oil change happen now that I have been driving it for 1 year?

Thanks for any input.

This should be your 2nd service, correct? 1st at 6 mo's or 5k miles. 2nd is 1 year or 10k miles. (Both are whichever comes first.) Oil change is done on the 2nd.

Yes, it had a 6 month service at which time the Service Adviser asked why I brought it in with only ~2500 miles on it.

Did you tell him to read the manual, or look at the sticker they placed on your windshield?

My dealership told me to go based on interval, not based on miles (even when I pointed out what the manual stated). They said that they'd be happy to do the service early, but it would make more financial sense for me to do it based on when I hit the mileage instead. (because I put less than 5k miles in 6 months)

Yes, I got it in writing (Email), and made sure that they were referring to the free services (and that they would still be free whenever I got it done) at their location.

Oil change interval.
10K miles OR one year.

Oil sitting in an open container, i.e., your engine's crank case, deteriorates due to oxidation regardless of if it's being pumped through the engine or not. I personally won't keep oil in a vehicle of mine past 1 year no matter what the mileage is. At one year, my GS had 2800 or so miles on it and I had the dealer change it. It cost me, of course, but the SA said the next one (10k/1year) would be "on the house".

It's going to take you guys 5 years just to break in the car. You must walk to work.

My GS will be a year old in two weeks, also. It may just have 5000 miles on the odometer by then!

5 months, 6K miles here. I did an oil change at 5k. My lexus tech recommended it too.

Why, yes.... I do - all 16 steps to my office upstairs. Occasional traffic jams due to kids toys scattered along the way make me take the side roads, but the "roads" are usually pretty deserted.

I'm coming up on my 6 month point, but only have a bit over 3000 miles on it.

I'm having zero problems, and never rotate tires. Since they don't change the oil, I'm starting to think it's a waste of time...anybody agree?

I just had the one year service, with just over 5K on the odometer. The service advisor told me that Lexus says the oil change can be deferred to 18 months. I told him to do it now.
