Default High Pressure Injectors

Anyone else who thinks the clicking of the injectors is out of place on a Lexus?

I could see it possibly when the car is cold but with Lexus supposed to be all about quiet and luxury, the clicking (which sounds like an older car with lifter problems) it is very hard to accept.

There are twelve injectors and the are large. They have to hold back 1500psi. There is an electric fuel pump in the tank and also a mechanical pump on the pass rea side of the engine, which can be quite loud also. I've been asked if my engine was going to fall out.

It may take some getting used to but the power and efficency make up for it, IMO.

I guess I'm the only one who doesn't hear anything. I'm always inside my car while driving and 99-100% have the windows up. The only time I notice any clicking is in a drive thru, and it's not that loud to cause concern. The cabin of the car is very well insulated against noise.

There was a thread on the 3GS forum a while back about someone buying/installing a noise reduction shield that is used on the LS. Being that the 4GS has the same engine, maybe that will fit this car as well...

+1 Nope I have also never heard it that bad. It's usually when I'm stuck in traffic and I roll the window down. Maybe you should get it checked.

I mean...I hear it but I don't find it objectionable.

As to the idea that its supposed to be nothing but quiet, remember this is the GS...not the LS. There's a little more involvement with the engine sounds by design because it is a sportier car.

As others elude ... it has a lot to do with ambient noise as well and is very subjective. To me, the GS has a very quiet engine and exhaust note compared to others in it's class.

I have never heard anything like that, and I always drive with the windows and sunroof open. I do have my music loud, though.

I don;t notice on other engines so unless Lexus has some problem with the engines that the injectors is a patch type of fix rather than correcting the problem, I wonder if other auto makers don''t need this why Lexus??

It is there in all of the engines. Different opperating temperatures it sound different. One day open your hood with it running and you see what people are complaingin about.

I've had to pull my car over to the drive a few times to show that other cars sound the same.

But, as stated, inside the car you usually do not hear it while driving.

I can honestly say I never have the hood up while the engine is running. So yeah, I'll never hear this noise.
