I think Lexus is paying the price of offering some model as a Toyota in JP in the past. There are many rebadge Toyota Harrier in SG. This has greatly diluted the brand prestige and image and is a big problem for some buyer who are badge conscious.

I have not owned a BMW 5 series but I have owned a BMW and I can say that between my X5, my mothers X3 and my sister I can say we all have had more problems with those vehicles vs my Lexus. I have had more problems with the build quality as the would in the X5 cracked one day after 1 year of ownership, my mothers window regulator went bad after 3 months of ownership. The list can go on and on, I think that Lexus is heading in the right direction were as BMW and Mercedes are heading in the opposite direction using more cheap materials inside the car. This is my perspective on the way the German cars have been in my life.

I did a LOT of research before buying my 13 GS. I had the 06 GS, so I knew about Lexus value and quality, but wanted to make sure I wasn't passing any better choices. While there are things I don't like about Lexus - choices of options and implementation, which they can certainly fix, I'd still make the same choice I made 6 months ago.

BMW and MB: Classy looking and nice technology, more expensive comparably equipped, and reliability problems. The kiss of death for BMW from my perspective: Run Flat Tires. I had them on the 06, and when I replaced them with Michelins, it was like getting a new car! BMW doesn't even have storage for a spare in the trunk, unless you want to have a tire taking up your trunk floor space.

BTW: If you're worried about poor handling/lack of power, I'm totally satisfied in that regard. If you take a test drive, I doubt you'll be disappointed.

I had to wait 16 weeks for it, but ordering is the only way to go. I wanted the radar cruise control/PCS, and that configuration was only available if you ordered it...couldn't even find a demo with it.

I gave myself six month of following several forums for Audi, BMW and Lexus before I made my decision. It all came down to reliability while maintaining high access to equipment. It all comes to when you are turning the key ( pressing the start button) you will hear your engine telling you I am ready to take you wherever you want with the style you chose!
