I always think the same thing!

Interesting about Chrysler, my Jeep GC is a Laredo X model, that model (and all other Laredos) ships with the DRL deactivated from the factory on US models. Limiteds and up with HID have DRLs switched on. Those DRL's switch off when the turn signals are activated as you mentioned. I had the DRLs on our Jeep switched on (Canadian mode) by the dealer, they do not switch off when the turn signals are activated. I wonder if its a US/Canadian difference?

A friend of mine that has an Audi S4 told me that it's a law (not sure if it's US/North America/EU law or what) about a light other than the head light being brighter than the turn signal. In any case it looks ridiculous when the DRLs shut off just because you put your blinker on.

I do wish the 4th gen GS came with those nice solid LEDs though...

Sounds like an excuse to me lol.
The solid LED is cool though. It looks as though they use a diffuser over multiple LEDs. Maybe someone brave enough can open up their headlight and try it out. Sure wont be me...

From what I saw of a disassembled GS350 headlight, it doesn't seem that hard to do. Our DRLs consist of a series of tiny LEDs soldered onto a board. I think I saw a picture of a Vossen project car, where they replaced it with red LEDs. Wonder if they can just add brighter LEDs in or would they need to adjust the resisters to change the power settings as well.

I really dig the Audi DRLs. They look sick as hell.

Shouldn't be that hard to swap out those LEDs right? Famous last words, LOL ... I will have to ask my brother who's a EE if the power needs to be adjusted for brighter LEDs or worse if there would be cooling issues.

And here I thought it was Audi cheaping out and through some back door using the same supplier as Chrysler. The reasoning given by Audi and its aficionados sounds suspicious. I much prefer from an aesthetic and safety standpoint, the protocol used by Lexus, MB, BMW and just about every other manufacturer. Perhaps there is a government that only regulates and sanctions Audi and Chrysler products.

A brave man with the LED install, but nothing ventured nothing gained. I thought LEDs were installed in hybrids in keeping with the green theme. There is belief that earlier bi-xenon hid headlamps mercury content classified them as hazardous waste, which I don't think is the case anymore.

LEDs consume less power and last longer than conventional filament bulbs. They are great for dome lights, turn signals and such. I'm still not sure about LEDs for headlights. Still prefer bi xenon lights as long as they are projected properly.

I saw a Porsche Cayenne (did I spell that right?) with LEDs DRL and it had an amber LED above (or below forgot) the white LED when it signaled. Could barely see the amber blinking cause the white LED next to it was so bright. However I agree it looks weird with LED DRL turning off for signaling.
