Default Hardwired My Radar!

So finally got my radar detector hardwired. I'm happy with the space created and I will try to take better pics today.

If the Lexus is like other cars, there is 12V available at the mirror. I used to have one of these mounts and wiring from Blendmounts.com

Which instruction set did you use to install it?

Good stuff fellow beantowner, I hardwired mine last week. So convenient to have the +12V right there. I highly recommend you replace those suction cups with double sided 3M tape. The suction cups will give out at some point but u'll have nothing to worry about with the 3M tape.

Hi bigblack06,

I'm from Massachusetts. If your installer is from Mass, can you share the contact info of the person/shop that did the install for you.

Thanks,
BG

Im going to ask a bit weird question. Does the radar detector really work? cuz one of my buddies uses one and always give him a false alert which annoy me

Yes, they do work. Many of the new ones (the more expensive ones) learn which are false positives and which aren't. Some are too sensitive though and the BSL on the car (and others we pass) will set it off.

They work best when traveling on the open hiway

Yes I can say my radar has helped numerous times, I was driving up a hill and was going pretty fast about 20 over speed limit. Before I got close to the top my K band went off, the state trooper was pretty far at the end of the hill, squeezed between cars to blend in. I had more than enough time to slow down and go the correct speed limit while others were not so lucky. Short answer yes it really works.

It's sooooooo easy to do, I'd recommend giving it a shot. I'm from MA too, if you'd like we can meet and I can help you out.

Escort 8500x50 and I just purchased the escort passport max. I would recommend Escort, Valentine 1, and Bell.

The Valentine 1 I had on my Acura was too sensitive to the BLS. I had to sell it. I contacted Valentine and they said they had no fix for it. I replaced it with an Escort 9500
