Default Sport + Shifting Problem

Occasionally my 2013 GS350 F-Sport gets confused as to what gear it should be in when in sport+ manual mode. It will somehow shift into a lower gear and RPM's are way too high. Does anyone have this problem?

that's by design...

its not for casual driving, but for going through a circuit... if you take it to a track or... drive it like a crazy person on local roads... you'll see how nice it is on twists and turns...

it automatically down shifts as you break hard coming into a turn... the idea is to keep the rev band where it'll have to most throttle response...

if you floor it on S+ from 0-60 and coast at 60, it'll sit on 3rd for a while before actually gearing up.

this is when you would use your paddle shifter to upshift to obtain a higher gear.

There is nothing wrong with it. Its by design. have you driven a manual? I assume not. Its downshifting when you are slowing down. It also downshifts 2 gears when pushing car hard so that it can accelerate faster. Get involved and upshift gears with paddles when needed.

Obviously sport+ mode is too raw for you, why set it in that mode then complain about it. I think the mode you want it in is ECO.

It's by design, to drop from 6th gear to 2nd gear and redline at 8000 RPM and feel like the bottom is falling out of the car while doing 70mph?

I would have to agree that the downshift from 6th to 2nd is just a teensy weensy bit outside what should be the ECU's mapping.

are you claiming that this is what's happening with your car? if so your GS is broken.

The GS Rev matches before shifting down, so you will see an increase in RPM as it jumps X number of gears. BUT the GS also has a fail safe that disallows downshifting to a point where it was cause damage to either the tranny or the engine.

Last i try to downshift too low the GS said can't do it! and yelled at me. this is also mentioned in the manual...

if your car is staying at 8K on 2nd... and not shifting up while you drive... you should get it checked out....

but i already know you are exaggerating since redline starts @ ~ 6500, and for you to get all the way up to 8... is impossible, OR your car is broken...
