I think you misunderstand. The 4GS has auto tilt down in reverse mirrors. People want auto FOLDING mirrors.

If you put your mirror selector in left or right setting they will tilt down when in reverse.

Interesting on the 8-speed automatic transmission. I'm more interested in the MPG's. I'm wondering if they are drastically improved

We don't have power folding mirrors over here in the states, unfortunately.

The September issue of Car and Driver has just come out with their "New Cars for 2014" issue in which they list the changes and upgrades in the 2014 models. No mention is made of an 8-speed transmission upgrade in the GS350. In fact all they mention about the 2014 GS350 is "Minor trim changes".

Wonder if they'll put the 3D maps, lane depictions (on the Nav), and improved voice commands on the 2014 4GS...

I don't know why the US has not caught on to this small but great addition. I worked in South Korea a while and most all cars have the folding mirrors standard!

Folding mirrors were standard as well as the power trunk on the previous generation GS350/460/450h. This time Lexus decided to take these options away, but still offer them in other countries.

I cannot imagine why they would do that. I doubt they had complaints abou tthat feature that is great in so many ways.

WOW, when the cost can be passed along.. could have offered it as an option. I'd have paid extra to have it too

I don't care about a power trunk as I rarely use the trunk but do miss the power fold in side mirrors.

i thought that as well, but honestly its a great option that i really miss (i'm coming from a 2012 BMW 535i). i loved the kick to open feature, especially when your hands are fully of groceries. but i recently closed the trunk to my GS and i noticed that my fingers were black where i had touched the trunk. annoying.

Maybe but my GS is a weekend pleasure vehicle that I maybe put on 5K miles per.
I may have opened the trunk maybe 6 times in 9 months and twice was check the stock bulb type and swap out that bulb to LED.
Why?
Just so I know it's an LED and it makes me feel good..

Pretty sure I remember there being a lot of complaints about the power folding mirrors failing on the 3GS. I think mostly because of the cheap plastic gears they used, so maybe they got tired of offering something that would end up being a PITA to everyone.
