Lexus manager says I should never buy a new car
He was pushing a lease on me, despite me telling him, from the start, I was only interested in buying. I know these guys can be pretty aggressive, but, telling me I should never buy, turned me off a little.

Yeah, they try any tactic they can to make a deal. He never even tried to sell me a car, which I thought was odd. I guess when a custermer says they are just browsing and are not ready, they go right into trying to lease.

I prefer leasing, but that manager was out of line. If you had another dealer, I'd just have walked out and gone elsewhere. They dissappoint sometimes with how they digress into a cheap used car salesman and it just ruins the whole experience.

Same thing happen to me at one dealer. Leasing doesn't work for me and I told the salesman why but he kept trying to push it. He claims he was doing me a favor. I ended up just walking out.
Leasing does work for certain people depending on the car and your financial situation. It just isn't for me and the GS at the moment.

Bear in mind too currently you get sizable incentives on the GS if you lease, but not if you buy.
I always lease my car (the GS) for business, but that happened when we got our Jeep. They had an additional $3,500 incentive for leasing plus a money factor that amounted to almost zero interest...I just couldn't buy it in that scenario. I don't love having two leased cars but even if I pay mileage charges up the wazoo I'd still come out ahead. $3,500 equates to over 20,000 additional miles.
So, while the salesman might have seemed pushy, sometimes they might be right.

That's too pushy and undignified for a Lexus sales person. I leased for the first time in my life a month ago. I've always paid cash or financed with 0% interest, which is better than cash. Given that this is my first Lexus, I didn't know if I would like it. I also feared getting stuck with a 60K lemon. So, I decided to try this leasing thing. 26 months from now, I'll see how I feel about it.

I went to a Lexus dealership a year ago with a friend of mine when he was shopping for a car. The dealer there immediately started pushing a lease, even before finding out what car my friend wanted. When my friend indicated that he wasn't interested in a lease, the dealer said (and this is an exact quote), "That's because you haven't been properly educated yet."
My friend wasn't offended and allowed the dealer to "educate" us. I was deeply offended and would have walked out immediately had I been there looking around for myself. It is entirely improper for a dealer (for any auto manufacturer) to insult and question the education of their customers in that way. I expected Lexus in particular to have higher standards.
When the time comes for me to buy a new car, I'll be going to the other Lexus dealer in the area first.
