Default Seeing the things we post about makes me smile

It's nice to see the things people generally post about are just mods and opinions on things. The days of "German engineering" aren't missed with frequent service visits and online postings filled with warranty issues. Nothing is perfect, but you guys catch my drift.

I totally catch your drift. I owned an Audi prior to my Lexus and spent a lot of time in the forums. I visit Bimmerfest as well. Lots more threads on issues than just on mods or improvements we would like to see in the next model.

What makes me smile more than anything is that I have a solid, reliable car that won't spend a lot of time in the shop, yet it can hang with the best of the Germans in its category. Who could say THAT two years ago unless you owned an IS-F.

I agree 100%. I've seen so many reviews in magazines speaking about how balanced the handling is over Mercedes, Audi, and BMW.

I also love the simplicity of maintenance with the car. DIY oil changing is effortless with their design and the ergonomics of most things is spot on.

This is why I chose the GS350. I really like the Germans but at this point in life Lexus is a better fit for me. Enjoying the ride so far. I'm actually kind of looking forward to the cold and snow this winter. Want to test out the AWD. LOL ... I am digging the heated seats and heated steering wheel so far.

I had to jump on this because I went form my IS350 to an Audi A5 now to my GS350 and I laughed when I read this post...totally agree with all the points (especially around needing to get things fixed more than the fun and mods)...

While I think Audi has a good AWD and many other German brands are known for their driving mannerisms, it seems these German cars are now numbing the driver's feedback. I'm not sure if this is an attribute of cost cutting and their trying to increase margins or not. But the Japanese are finding ways to give the driver feedback in a more controlled and luxurious way while maintaining reliability and catching up on the HP front. Ironic considering the Germans are still having all the mechanical issues they are known for and the Japanese continue to maintain low numbers of repairs.

Well said. I've always said we now have the best of all worlds... the best driving cars with the fewest issues.

Now we have to wait for Lexus or the aftermarket to come out with a slew of performance parts to spark off the modding craze.
