Default Scratch thread XXXVIII

So long story short, I was pulling into Best Buy, lady in SUV wasn't watching and was taking the center of the road, I swerved to avoid her and hit the curb and scratched my rims and destroyed my tire...
I dropped the car off for the rim to be fix and for a new tire. Hopefully it will be ok...

Hard to say, but I guess I drive around so many others who have their noses in their phones when driving that I have a habit of assuming that was likely what caused it.

I really wish nat'l legislation would be enacted to make the fine so high for those who text and drive or play on their phones when driving that this growing trend would stop. It is worse than drunk drivers and continuing to become more rampant.

Smh can't have nice things. People are so numb to their surroundings while driving nowadays. It's a bad thing when texting takes away your primary concentration and driving is put on the back burner. Hope everything works out.

Sucks...better a wheel and tire than a body panel on the car though.

Wheel can be fixed, no biggie.

Might be worth getting the tracking looked at, that looks like a heavy knock.

that looks nasty... as long as you're ok and the damage wasn't worse than it is. new wheel, new tire and you should be fine. i recently moved from NY to GA and down here every 3 out of 5 cars that i encounter, someone is on the phone... damn shame.

I agree, Its so damn annoying when I see people on their phones. Im 23 and unlike most my age you will never see me with my phone out when driving. Just last night I was almost driven of a small overpass that could have landed me down below as the idiot in the lane next to me was on his phone, and didnt even realise and drifted into my lane. Lucky for me I slammed on my brakes and avoided an accident. They need to bring stricter laws in Texas.

Awman, that looks terrible...

The rims can definintely be fixed. But you need a new tire for that one.

Well I got my car/wheel back.. $850 later..... I must say it does look great, not 100% perfect but by the time NY winters are over it will all just blend in...
I'm just happy it was just the rim and not body work.. the rim can easily be replaced...

$850? What did they do?

A brand new rim and tire wouldn't cost that...

Yeah, for that price you can buy 4 used rims on ebay.
