Default Tinting front windshield with heads up display

I have heads up display and was wondering if I tinted my front windshield will it have any affect on my heads up display. I was going to tint it a light/medium tint just to protect my dash from the hot Florida son!

I don't have any experience with this, but given that there is a reflective coating on the area of the windshield where the HUD is projected, I'm thinking it just might cause the display to be dimmer or harder to see.

Might be worth it to see if your tinter can do a cut out of the tint so it does not cover the reflective surface on the windshield.

I wouldnt, I install tint, and it will hard to see the HUD. it could be cut out, but I believe in Florida its illegal to tint the front window, and a cop that notices the cut out would see the tint in a heartbeat. I would just get a visor for the car. My truck has had one in the sun for 12 years and I havent had a crack or problem (knock on wood). Safest way would be to have a visor.

I have the HUD and the lightest grade ceramic tint on my front windshield with no issues. It's amazing how much radiated heat is reflected away.

Note that even with no tint, the HUD will be hard to see or impossible to see in bright sunlight.

There is also p80? Which formula1 offers its basically clear with a small tint of blue and good heat rejection

I agree with this. If it is legal in your state to tint the entire front windshield as it is in my state, do it if it doesn't affect your HUD. It makes a big difference even if the tint is very light as it blocks a lot of UV and heat.

I had 80% ceramic tint on the windshield of my Corvette with HUD. Does not affect it at all.

Isn't it the darker the better readability? A lot of aftermarket HUD comes with a darker film for you to stick on the windscreen for the HUD to reflect on to improve the contrast. I had tinting on my windscreen too. No issues at all... problem with HUD is with the glasses you wear... Polarised glasses are HUD killer...
