Upgrading to 5000k HID after OEM '14 fogs...who makes the BEST bulbs?
I've decided here tonight after going to a spin with my new 2014 LED fogs that I'm going to upgrade the OEM 4300k HID bulbs to 5000k. I want to stick to 5,000k because I want to preserve as much usable light as I can.
Doing some research but not getting anywhere, who makes the BEST bulbs? I'm willing to pay for good bulbs...
How about HID Powerhouse who is a vendor on here? Any experience?

Did you have OEM HIDs? If so what are your thoughts on the difference between the OEM 4300k and the 5000k?

Have you upgraded yours? Doing some reading it sounds like the Ultinons may be color wise a little different than other bulbs. I don't want them to be "blue", but I do want them to be whiter and more similar to the LEDs...I'm wondering if I go with the Ultinons if I should go 6k? I'm concerned about light output though.

Yup morimotos are really good. I've purchased a few for other cars and have had no problems at all. Here they are. Might pick up a pair when my LED fogs come in. How are you liking the fogs btw?

Have you had the Morimotos for extended periods of time? How is the 5,000k color compared to OEM?

I really am concerned about going to 6000 because of light output.

I went further and bought the LED headlights.
The Ultinons won't be blue, maybe only for a second during the warm up. They'll be very similar to LED's. I personally like 6K, but the light output is not that great and it's very hard to match them.

That's right, I remember now about your LEDs.
So you think the 5000k ultinons will match the LEDs well?
Any thoughts on the Osram CBI? Supposed to have 5000k color with 4300k output

I'm pretty sure they don't make 5000k ultinons... My friend even went to Japan and said he couldn't find them.
They have another line with 5000k (non ultinons) though if I remember correctly. I could be wrong...
The other issue with philips is the staggering amount of knockoffs on the market
The Morimoto bulbs are pure white. No blue or yellow- and were brighter than my dying OEM bulbs lol. I've had em for a while now with zero problems. Another friend has D2S Morimoto bulbs in his headlights (S2k retrofit) for a few years now and they still look very bright.
And they are priced very nicely as too

Yeah, my apologies, I have the 6K Ultinons. Very nice bulbs. They are purple on initial warm-up, but a very nice white when on. I don't see blue when they're on. I think you're safe with anything <= 6K. When you start going higher than 6K, the light gets more blue/purple, and that's where the light output starts to fade...especially when it rains.
