Default That No Power Mirrors Thing Again: Oh the Humanity!

Earlier this week because of inclement weather I decided to drive my daughter's car to work instead of my own (she had the day off). I bought the car for her - a 2013 Nissan Sentra - in July, brand new, as a college graduation present. Yes, it has cloth seats, very little engine torque, but it's shockingly roomy inside and has LEDs under the headlights in a strip almost exactly like Lexus. I paid 19.6K for this thing, cash, and with that also got onboard, factory-installed Navigation, SAT radio and *** drumroll *** POWER FOLDING SIDE MIRRORS! How humiliating!!!! Every one of us 2013 4GS suck...er, owners, should be embarrassed and upset.

What was Lexus thinking! At first, I was thinking of keeping this Meteor Blue Mica beauty, but I've decided the embarrassment is too great and will return it after the lease expires in 22 months. How do the rest of you feel about this issue?

Lexus dropped the ball on that, the trunk, and siri eyes free. I like the car overall, but this spoon fed update and lack of willingness to retro us that have iPhones to Siri eyes free is making me rethink when my lease matures. I'll enjoy it as I can for now, but I am looking elsewhere more and more because there is no excuse when these options were available overseas on the 13 except Siri. Which is only a software/firmware update away.

Yes the power fold in mirrors is the only thing available on the '14's I miss.
I'm not surprised Toyota held back on some options in the first year of the new gen.

Frankly, don't really care about mirrors or power trunk. I would have liked crossview rear traffic, because I back out of a blind spot into the road every morning. The one thing in this car I really don't like is the sluggish transmission, it is smooth as silk leaving it in drive, but using the paddle shifters it is slow to shift up and down. On the the 3, 1300 mile trips I have taken in the first 5 months I owned it, it is the best, most comfortable car I have ever driven.

Are the folding mirrors really that important to you guys? I just don't get it, I mean it would be a nice feature to have but at no point is this something I think about. Are you scared about getting side swiped and loosing a mirror?

I guess for the amount you're paying it would be a nice amenity. Big deal, just fold your mirror in yourself. Never owned a car with power mirrors before, but I'm not embarrassed. Nobody cares if a sentra has power mirrors and nobody will care if a lexus doesn't. To change plans to keep a car over power mirrors is laughable- should have got yourself a sentra since it's such a deal breaker.

Nice feature, but not a big deal really. I would rather drive a GS than a Nissan Sentra.

I like pulling in my garage far to my right and have to get out of the car to adjust going in and when I'm out.Not too bad if the wife is with me as she does the fold in and out.

I have to get out of the car and fold the passenger side mirror manually! Not only does my daughter's 2013 Nissan Sentra have it, so does my wife's 2012 Denali. The most expensive car on the homestead (the Denali was only 50K) doesn't have power folding mirrors? That's too much shame. I don't care about lack of a power trunk, and I definitely don't care about Siri because I refuse to join the Apple cult. I won't buy their products. The manual folding side mirrors thing is ridiculous.

I don't think you can fold mirrors while the car is in motion on a 13 - 14 GS. There is no button for that. I think they fold when you shut the car off ? Are there any 14' GS members here that can confirm that is the case ?

Auto close or manual button option.

Auto close happens when you lock the car. Manual comes in handy going through a car wash.
