The best way is to have a body shop spray tint them. You have to remove them, scuff and then spray. The only problem is finding somebody that will do it and do it right. Here is a link to my mod thread. Scroll down and you can see mine...

Have you tried talking to a business who wraps cars? I applied red tint to the amber portion of the tails and (albeit a small portion) it did stick and hold nicely.

does the shop you go to do PPF/clearbra or do they only mainly do window tinting?
Go to a shop that does more PPF work, and they definitely should be able to do tinted PPF on the taillights

I as well have red outs on my amber portion of the tail lights. at first i put the "smoke" on the entire lens' but imo it looked just tacky, however the red outs made the car look uniform and imo better than factory. its your car, so do what you will but its really easy to have it done. i live in socal and only paid $20 for the red outs

I got tint on the windows saturday. Looks alot better. Im going to talk to a guy I know that wraps cars and see if he can do the tail lights and black out all the chrome molding. Then I may lower it a little
