Nothing could be more challenging that the weather around here on RVC. While annoying, the only solution is wiping it off. Tucking it behind an emblem means it is prone to freeze ups. A jet of washer fluid will undoubtedly bring its own problems. Generally I find the RVC useful despite the short-comings.
BTW - most up here have switched to the -40 and -45 rated washer fluid which does not cause line freeze up even at -20 C. Now at -40, if your car turns over you are doing well. Winter is hell, guys.
Thats actually a great idea as well, with only one tiny hole to make it work. I will reasearch it. Thx. Already talk with my friend, he is a good engineer :-)
Apply rain-x with a Q tip, polish it off, done. I don't like how the cam gets gunked up when the weather turns bad here either, so it's what I did. It's not perfect but it's better.

I did the same thing with Aquapel (another rain repellant), since I still had some after finishing the windows. It is better, though not perfect.
A lot depends on what kind of conditions you drive in. If your trip starts with a backup, as mine does, you can readily see if there's a problem, and wipe, if necessary.
