Ok so the other day i was going about 80 on the interstate (in sport mode) and when i hit the brake to get off onto the off ramp it shifted down a gear but the RPMs flew up as if i was reving the engine. anybody else had this experience?? This happens among other things but only in sport mode.

I remember freaking a bit when that happened the first time to me on I-95. It's planned behavior in S/S+ mode to prepare for accelerating out of a turn, for example, after braking going into it. But it can occur when you don't want the higher RPMs as well. In that case, just remember your paddle shifters and shift up and all is well. Once you get to learn the car, you'll find it works extremely well! Part of driving the car rather than it driving you!

Nothing surprising. Its downshifting in S/S+ mode and gearing the car for shifting up when accelerating fast.

I try to always have my tranny in Normal mode when driving on the highway. Sport or Sport+ is for around town.
