Went to take off front license plate holder and ...... OH NO
Hello everyone,
Just bought a 14 GS 350 F Sport. Love the car and it has been a dream the past week. Have no complaints and the car has been everything i thought it would be
Went to take off front license plate holder and when i got it off, looks like they drilled right into the front bumper!!
I was shocked to see this. Even my s2000 had pre-drilled holes and they provided plugs to insert if you took off the plate holder.
Was wondering if all the GS's had this or is it just mandatory in CA to have a plate in front.

lexus cars don't have pre-drilled holes or bottom mounting, so yes they will have to drill into the bumpers
front place is mandatory in ca, but you can always specifically request your car not to have the front plate. they will likely have you sign a wavier (which i did for my past cars)

the times when i got my cars, i ordered cars that had NOT even arrived at the port yet, and i put in special request to not have the front drilled. my sales guys actually had to go into dealerships very early in the morning to track down the cars when they hit dealership and put a few signs and masking tape up front saying "NO DOT DRILL"

correct, basically signing a doc saying if you get a ticket, it's not their responsibility. and of course, that happened because some people got cars from dealerships without front plates, got pulled over, and they in turned sued the dealerships.
as far as i know, for most dealerships, putting on front plate is among the first things they do once the car arrives at the dealership (from port). so more than likely the previous dealerships already had it drilled before the dealer trade

I know it doesn't fix the problem but I use these. They even have plugs to match Lexus custom colors, for example I have Nebula grey plugs.

do you need to drill bigger hole or does it fit as is?
