Owners with heads up display, need your input
Two weeks ago my windsheild was replaced. Yesterday on the way home from work I decided to use my HUD. To my surprise, the letters and numbers appeared a little blurry, actually it was more like a double vision.
If your car has HUD, can you tell me if yours is like that ? Or is it actually clear ?
Thanks

I'll try to take some night shots tonight and post pics. I think that maybe my windshield was not properly seated or something. Besides the HUD issue, I also hear the hissing noise from the engine, initially I thought it was my new exhaust.

Yours even in daylight looks better than mine. I'll try to take some night shots tonight and post pics. I think that maybe my windshield was not properly seated or something. Besides the HUD issue, I also hear the hissing noise from the engine, initially I thought it was my new exhaust.
Also, can you hear the hissing noise if you record it on your phone?

Unfortunately, you can barely hear the hissing noise when it's recorded.
They will send a guy on Monday, he'll check the windshield. Hopefully he'll find the problem.

Reading up on this a little, it seems that the HUD always reflects off both the inside and outside surfaces of the windshield, so there is always a "double image". The trick to making it look right is to make sure these two reflections exactly line up with each other, so they look like one.
The HUD-specific windshield does that by being tapered where the HUD image would be, so the inside and outside surfaces are at a slight angle to each other (the plastic layer between the two glass layers is what is tapered). But the windshield also has to be installed in exactly the right place for this to work, if it is misaligned slightly then you still get a double image.
Makes sense that could happen when the windshield is replaced, especially with the other symptom (noise) that there might be a gap where there shouldn't be?

I played with HUD yesterday, I found that if I move it all the way down then it becomes somewhat clear. However, it is hard to see it then, because it is not on the same level with my eyes. I have to constantly look down.
This is what it looks like when I move it where it should be,

Especially if you are hearing an air leak.
