I think this car has too many gears. 6 is good enough for daily driving.

I agree, and not just for daily driving. In all situations, I prefer the 6 gears in my 2013 model over the 8 gears in the 2014 model. Frankly, 8 gears might be slightly better for fuel economy, but it doesn't add much to performance, since the shifting time (albeit small) pretty much negates the slight edge in time spent in the 'meat' of the power band. All the magazine tests I've read of acceleration times pretty much confirm this to me. And when at the track, I find fewer gears easier to manage, which results in (at least for me) faster and more consistent lap times.

This car really hesitates to downshift and it's doing it all the time. Well sometimes it does it right but most of the time it hesitates and I have to paddle shift. Not good when you're in a tight spot and need to get out fast. My old Camry V6 has 6 speed tranny and it's really good on gas, so I don't think having 8 gears helps that much.
The new 2015 Chrysler 200 will have 9 speed, that thing will probably gear hunting all the time.

Lol when the 2013 GS first came out people complain about not having 8 speed like other lexuses and cosidered it cheaping customers out compared to other manufacturers like Mercedes and BMW. Now once Lexus heard all our cries and moaning about that, they decided to give us consumers what we want and now we complain that it has too many gears? Lol I guess use lexus boys are hard to please.

I've driven the 8 speed in a loaner a few months ago and in did not like the feel. I think it's the fact that my 6 speed has learned my driving habits. It was CVT smooth at speed though, which was great. If an 8 speed is good enough for an IS-F, it's good enough for me.
