DIY Trunk LED Light Strip Guide
#16
Thx AL13NV8D3R...just did mine, best sub-$15 upgrade so far. Took me a little longer since i made a small cut-out in the base plate for the wire. I wrapped all the excess wire and placed in the light compartment, then snapped the light cover back on. Huge difference!

I think these are the links:
(but I can't seem to find the 24" strip, they just have the 36" strip)
** I wanted to do this mod also and had to dig around the site though I am not sure if these are the right ones ** = If someone can validate the links that would be helpful!

I used a 20" light bar for my ES trunk light upgrade. http://www.oznium.com/smd-bar
Mounted it right behind the stock trunk light. Fabricated a connector to fit the OEM light socket (bulb removed) and extended the wires to the light bar.
The 30 LEDs do a very good job of illuminating the trunk and it looks like a clean factory installation.

I am the original poster of this thread and these links above are correct. My old link seems to be broken. Anyways here is another link for people who want a short light strip. I cant seem to fime the 5000k color version of these strips there maby vled discontinued them? But I prefer the look of 5000k.

We have the pure white 6000K (no yellow tint and no blue tint) LED strips in stock. We can include the adapter with your purchase (any length adapter you need), can make the strip LED any length you need to the inch, and will also beat any price of any competitor.

I just simply cut the velcro to the same width as the led strip. So basically I cut the velcro lenght wise then I cut the velcro width wise. Then I cut that in half to facilitate an easier install. But if I had to guess the width of that led is about 3/4 inch.

Just did this yesterday with the parts from VLED. Took all of 15 minutes, so many thanks to AL13NV8D3R for the instructions!
The one thing I added was drilling a 7/32" hole through the light cover so the wire could travel easily.
Here are some photos:
7/32" hole drilled into cover. Velcro I used in background, cut in half and fit light strip perfectly
Result after installation, nice and neat

I installed SMD12 board from Diode Dynamics:

It fits inside the trunk light fixture utilizing a bulb adapter. Bright as can be - clean and easy install!
