Default Feasibility of Leasing from CA dealer

If the deals during the summer sales event aren't aggressive enough in my area (NC), I intend to explore leasing from a CA dealer. Is this even feasible? Aside from not being able to drive the car and shipping it across the country anyone see a downside to this? At the end of the lease can't I return the car to any Lexus dealership?

No reason you can't do that...I might shop deals in FL, DC & NY to see if they are similar enough to avoid the extra shipping charge.

Bear in mind shipping a car that far is probably going to be $1,000+

It is feasible, but there are large dealers that are closer to you. We do quite a bit of business in NC.

You can return the Lease to any Lexus dealer.
