You can always fold them manually as required.

I do that now. But very annoying and embarrassing when driving a $65k car.

The lack of the power trunk is more annoying IMO. Is power folding mirrors really that big of a deal? I agree it's cool and I'd like it but seems like there isn't that great of a benefit.

I also don't live in a major city or have to parallel park very often so that's probably why I think that.

I think it is a very nice to have option. Especially with regard to parking. I have parked in parking lots and have come out to see one of my mirrors collapsed by someone or something hitting it and the mirror portion ends up facing outward. Yes, thankfully they are designed to collapse either way. But if they were auto collapsed, or even collapsed mechanically with drivers intervention, it would be nice. And yes, before I am asked, couldn't I just collapse them myself when I get out? Point taken. But I don't always remember to do it.

Maybe I just don't realize this is a risk yet. I've had my GS for less than a month and I'm coming from a Civic Coupe which is small enough that I never had problems like this.

My thoughts: Lexus did this purposely to enable some "new" additions to the 2014. I don't care for that type of "marketing".

Isn't that typical of any of the automakers? They make what they call a mid-cycle refresh. Although this is not even mid-cycle for this gen of GS. It's a new model year. Where many of the components stay the same, but they make minor improvements, tweaks. Such as the mirrors, maybe a new color, etc. Yes, it sucks, but that to me is the norm.

My SO received a 2014 Cadillac CTS while they service his 2013 ATS and while the trunk isn't a power trunk, it still opens up fully when you unlock it. Lexus should have been able to incorporate whatever Cadillac did. It couldn't have been that much.
