Default How to keep the exhaust pipes (bumper fascia really) Clean

I've had my '13 GS350 AWD since January, and for the life of me I can not get the rear rectangle exhaust tip that comes out the bumper clean. They seem to blacken on the inside edges - any tricks to get them shining again (besides not driving that is)?

I just use "Soft Scrub" on a damp sponge. Don't forget to protect any clothing you may be wearing or wear junk clothes as the bleach in the Soft Scrub will do some damage.

I use MP2011C Optimum Metal Polish 8 oz - works wonders on the exhaust tip (just needs a tiny bit)

They make non-bleach soft scrub.

I would use Barkeepers friend. It has some abrasive compounds and also citric acid and is good at removing stains. Beyond that, progress into some very light metal polishes and a cloth. If that fails, go to a buffing wheel like Mother's powerball or the cone probably works better.

Once you get them clean, seal / coat them with a good synthetic polish (not a wax). It will make the carbon much easier to remove.

From the look of our bathroom faucets, soft scrub actually scratches. I would not use that on your car.

Good luck keeping the black off...that's what 91/93 octane gas produces...

No reason to use non-car products like SoftScrub or barkeepers friend when there are so many good appropriate polishes out there.

What you need is a good metal polish. I use this, easy to find at Advance Auto parts or Pep Boys:

Once a month or as needed, keeps them clean.

Since purchasing the car, I have never cleaned that until last night. Check out the photo. This is what I used.

Excuse my ignorance, but is Nevr Dull a wipe on wipe off product? Or do I need to pull out my mechanical polisher?

Never Dull is easy, just purchase it and open the can up. Its like a cotton material, take a piece off and rub it against the metal exhaust tip. Wipe it with a paper towel, old t-shirt, or whatever you prefer.

Like mentioned above, Mother's mag polish is awesome. I've had nothing but great results with it. It smells bad though.
