What should I expect to pay? (2014 GS350 AWD F-Sport)
Hey guys, I've been looking at getting a 2014 GS350 AWD F-Sport (+Blind Spot, +Parking Sensors). Been considering a lot of other cars too (2015 Hyundai Genesis AWD, Infiniti Q50, Acura TLX, BMW 528xi) - but I've been leaning towards the Lexus just because I know it will have bulletproof reliability. The plan is to own this car for 10 years or more, my current 2003 Acura TL is 12 years old now!
I know there have been a lot of threads on pricing - and I apologize for creating another one, but I spent the past week or so browsing different pricing threads and didn't find what I was looking for.
I asked a friend of mine who works at a dealership as the Internet Sales Manager and he said the best he could do was $54k right now including a $1000 rebate but that there maybe some additional rebates in the future. Not sure if that price before rebates will move down any lower after the 2015s come out but I am assuming it will.
I am willing to wait until the 2015s come out and try to grab a leftover 2014, but ideally I am hoping to pay around $45k (before Taxes, Tags, etc). Do you think this is unrealistic?
If I had to go +$2k that is probably doable too, but just wondering for people who maybe were shopping or bought a leftover 2013 what the pricing was like - and maybe I can base my rough estimate on what I would pay on that.
Also does anyone know what the biggest rebate was for leftover 2013 GS's last year? I saw somewhere that the rebate right now if you can find a leftover 2013 is $2800. Not sure if it was ever bigger than that?
I don't know if I'm crazy or not - but just thinking if I can get the price down to $50k before rebate on a leftover 2014 then minus $2800 - I'd be right where I want. Maybe just wishful thinking
My other option is to wait for a CPO or low mileage 2014 to come along that has what I want, but would love a new car if possible of course. I have already seen some 2014 F-Sport AWDs selling for $51k with less than 10k miles.
I prefer the 2014s mainly because of the rear cross traffic and power folding mirrors feature. Prefer AWD for the winter, and obviously no difference in transmission between the 2013-2014 for AWD.

Probably not going to happen on a $60,000 msrp car model year 2014. Maybe on a 2013. You might be better off with the new 2015 Genesis....Its a lot of car and lists for under $50,000

Considering the 2015 will be here soon. I would aim for 12% under MSRP. Of course this depends on availability of cars in your area. I got my '13 F Sport RWD in 08/12 for 11% under MSRP. Of course your car should not have dealer add ons like paint protection, glass etching, etc...

$54,000 is a very good price on a $60,000 MSRP, Invoice is around $55,200. I was not aware of any rebates this month though. If there is a Rebate as you say $1,000, you should be able to push to $54,000- $1,000 Rebate, but it is not going to be easy.
Dealers make you believe that Invoice is the absolute minimum they can sell at, but normally there is another 5-6% below that. and they make money on quantity as well.
The offer you got is $55,000 ( which is the Invoice) - $1,000 rebate. = $54,000 ($1,000 below the Invoice) Great deal, but could be better if they have it in stock. If not, probably not going to happen.
Just let them know this is your budget, and let them think about it.

Well if new isn't going to be on my list of possibilities, I would like to think a low mileage 2014 would be possible after the 2015s come out. Or a GS w/o the F-Sport package would definitely be possible new I would think.

They do have a few GS350 F-Sports in stock at my friend's dealership. I just asked him via email, nothing serious and he quoted me $54k for an F-Sport ("aggressively priced" was the words he used). The $1000 rebate would have been for June, not July since I emailed him last week.
I'm in no rush - I'm actually hoping to wait until after the 2015s come out to see if I can get an even better deal on a leftover 2014.

good. you can get an additional tax break for your trade, around $300 or so. I'd say $54,000 of the bat is pretty aggressive. Lets hope they will keep their word when you get there.
There should be better deals on the 14 model when the 15 will come out.

Unfortunately in Virginia I don't think I get a tax break from my trade in. VA is actually the worst when looking at the way the taxes are handled (taxes before rebates, no trade in tax break, leases pay full tax on purchase price). We also pay sales tax and pay a property tax annually on cars.

I bought my 2013 F Sport for $10000 under invoice (if you can believe truecar.com, though I thought it was only ). I was told the non F Sports weren't discounted as severely. I actually could have gotten an extra $500 off back in Dec/Jan rather than waiting until last week. *side note, I decided to get a 2014 at the end of this year, but my SC was rear ended and totaled so I needed a new car.
Lexus offers 3-4k in dealer discounts to clear out the previous models in Dec (I saw this on the GS, and the IS a couple of years ago when I nearly bought one to replace my IS300), so if I were you I would wait until the end of Dec, find all of the dealerships with inventory and hit them up. I don't know about the east coast, but my understanding is Southern CA is about the most competitive market around, so you might not get as good of a deal
At the beginning of June I talked to dealers in FL, NY, WA and AZ that had 2013 F Sports still. The best any of them would do is $200 over invoice!?!? The one in AZ wanted full price, even when I told them I could get a 2014 below MSRP and that the production of the 2014s had stopped and the 2015s were close to rolling out.
