That hardness with wear is a problem on summer tires it seems. Although, the Potenza's will tell you if a quarter is heads or tails when you run over it, at 50% tread remaining.
Love my Super Sports, that's all I can say. Staggered fitment sucks for overall tire life but that's part of the deal. You get performance summer tires, you don't expect them to go 60k if you can't even rotate 'em. They ride quieter than stock, soak up bumps adequately, and actually handle very well in the rain which surprised me.
I took stock of some nice cars parked at one of the local ranges one day. It was practically a car show. New Mustang GT whatever edition, Super Sports. New M4, Super Sports. Even had an Alpina out there, guess what tires on it? Yep.

Michelin is an overall great brand. I had one PSS A/S blow out on me after a week of using them, I called Michelin direct, they arranged to do an inspection and gave me 4 brand new tires because I wasn't feeling comfortable with the others.
