Back to Lexus from BMW...Any regrets?
#107
Missed the December Lexus event but went ahead last week and picked up a '15 GS F Sport, Atomic Silver/Black interior.
Yes....as everyone mentioned. I miss the big torque of my 550i but am quite pleased with my F Sport. Its a well equipped sedan for long trips and a agilel sedan for DD needs. And, most of all I'm looking forward to many years of care free driving. Peace of mind trumps power and torque for me.
THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL THAT COMMENTED IN THIS THREAD.

Did you get caught up in the 550 Customer Care issues?

I bet your dealer will wince when you take back the leased 550i. I'd even venture to say you could buy the car way, way under low blue book should you fancy that (I personally would not bet the future on the N63 even with the recall parts)
Thanks,

I have been driving an E39 540i Sport now for 11 years, 1999 model. I just purchased a GS350 to replace it. Unquestionably the No. 1 driver for why I replaced it are the maintenance costs. For the last 11 years, I have been spending a tremendous amount on maintenance. Yes the 540i has the best driving feel, I can feel the road and it takes the turns without a hitch. The acceleration is tremendous. At first it seemed like the GS leans a little bit in turns, until I shifted into Sport + mode a few days ago, and with that it behaves more like the 540i, so I am happy with that. Transmission shifting is much smoother. And of course, with the Lexus I do not have to worry about all of the maintenance costs and the inconvenience of taking it in to the shop when I also have to drop off my son at daycare every day and then go to work. Besides the maintenance, the one reason I finally decided to switch was due to the looks of the GS. I saw one on the freeway and thought - hey, that's a nice looking ride. Take the reliability + looks and that's what finally did it tor me.
