Default GS versus Cayman GTS

I'm going to be in the market for a vehicle in the next few years. I've been waiting to get the GS 350 with all the options however I'm hearing a lot of great things about the Cayman GTS, I know they are completely different cars but I was wondering if anyone had done their research and weighed between these two? The cayman looks so much better, but is it worth giving up the space?

btw. I've owned several generations of the RX and now the CT200H. Came from BMW E46 many moons ago and never looked back. One thing I really hate about the Lexus is the crappy navigation system. The garmin is far superior in providing optimal routes. Lexus always redirects you and makes you go all around to perform a UTurn which is necessary.

Hilarious comparison. If you don't need 4 doors and comfort, get the Cayman. The Cayman and Boxster S perform very well, with the 2015 Cayman GTS beating the 911 in value and equal performance with 0-60 times as low as 4.1s.

For a fair comparison you may want to compare the outgoing IS-F or the upcoming RC-F. Personally I'd lean towards the RC-F for uniqueness alone. It will perform well and turn alot more heads than the Cayman, at least around here.

Seems like you're not concerned with space at all if you're considering the Cayman. If that's the case, the comparison ends right there.

It really depends on how much space you need and what your purpose is.

I have an F Sport and my Dad has a 2013 Boxster S (the new 981 model) that I have driven a bit, and I can tell you the Boxster beats the GS in every performance category (As it should). That being said I would never have the Porsche as my only car or as a daily driver. It's not a car I want to be getting in and out of multiple times a day (it's LOW).

To answer your question, I have pretty extensive experience with a similar car and while everyone is different, I'd still choose the GS. Not to mention a well equipped Cayman GTS will probably run you 90k. With that roof, you have a lot of options.

In fact, I traded my Cayman for my GS. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't miss it. My whole life I have had sports cars and motorcycles, the Cayman is the only one that I pushed to the limit that scared me, and when I got there, I said to myself, screw it, and went faster.

The Cayman is unique compared to 911, in that it is mid engine, the bulk head is right behind the seats which are limited in their adjustments, though the seats are very comfortable long distance driving, do to lack of adjustment, could be tough for some tall people, over 2 hours I was cramping. If I didn't need a bigger car, 4 doors and a big trunk, it would be a no brainer, Cayman all the way.

Both Porsche and Lexus have great local dealerships and service techs, the big difference is at the national level, I had good response from Lexus, and this is my second Lexus, and terrible response from Porsche at the Corporate level.

You can't compare Cayman with GS.

You obviously have never driven one lol.

Hardly a chick car. In a lot of ways the Cayman is more fun than a 911.

Lexus GS 350 F Sport. Sorry but I think the F Sport is sexy. Caymen not so.. But do you like the single mid life crisis doctor lifestyle? It might be for you..

Just kidding! Anyways it's really about space and comfort. Do you want to ride in a larger greenhouse? Have the space to haul people and other things? Your comparison is really odd but I do understand it. A roadster (or whatever?) vs a large sedan. Basically which one do you see yourself living with for however long you project to keep it? I love my F Sport for what it's worth and I'm quite young. I would chose it over a sports car nearly any day. I love the comfort and luxury of it. It's different strokes for different folks. What floats your boat?
