TSB:Aluminum Door Panel Trim Dented by Seat Belt Latchplate
#16
It's been bothering me for the last 11 months. Dealer originally blamed keys for this. Getting it fixed tomorrow.

Nice find! I noticed this is covered under warranty.
What's the risk of having them changed out to the new "more durable" part numbers while my car is still within the warranty period .. just in case? I'm sure I can find dings on both of them if I looked harder!
I assume possible squeaks and rattles in the door panel? Does the door panel have to removed to replace the trim parts?

Dropped my car off this morning to get the panels replaced. I noticed a small ding on the panel on top of the glove box also. Never noticed it before but the seat belt does slam onto the B pillar quite violently if you just unhook your seat belt without supporting it.
Will keep everyone updated on how the fix goes.

Can you guys who are replacing the aluminum let us know if the replacement is a more durable one? Can I replace mine even though I have no dings? Don't want the warranty to run out and then get dings.

Got the call my car is ready. Both panels replaced but I won't be able to pickup the car until Saturday afternoon.
It will be hard to say if the new panels are more durable as I'm not about to ding them on purpose. LOL If you have no dings from normal usage I wouldn't bother as I'd rather not have them tear my door apart. You have 4 years until the warranty runs out anyhow.
I can only hope they would fix this again if the dings continue to appear even on the new panels.

Wow this is good to know. I didn't realize I had any dings on the drivers door until reading this thread and checking my vin number. I guess I will wait until the next oil change and get this done.

i have an idea...why not cut a piece of 3M protection film and cover the aluminum trims? The film's meant to soften the blow from debris so it won't damage what's under the film, I can imagine it working here as well.
