Default Well...I'm a moron...dented my own car

Like the title says...I dented the GS in my own garage.

My wife left the cord to my portable vacuum hanging down, and I tripped over it in the garage pulling the vacuum off the shelf and right into the rear quarter panel of the GS

To say I've been absolutely sick about it would be an understatement.

Most of the paint damage buffed out, theres a small 1CM scratch thats not coming out, and that scratch has a very slight indentation in the metal. I'll get that touched up as well as I can but it won't be invisible. Theres also a dime-nickel sized ding right over top of the fuel filler door.

Pictures are below. Obviously my concern for PDR is going to be access, I have sent pictures to a guy in VA who specializes in difficult PDR, I'm going to try and get by there tomorrow and have him look at it/take care of it.

All that time an effort being careful so other people don't screw up my cars gets wasted in 1/4 second of inattentiveness on my part.

Keep your fingers crossed for me. Obviously in person it looks worse than in pictures:

Hopefully bad luck comes in threes and the 4GS family will be spared from now on!

Thats one thing about silver vs a darker color. Other colors I'd be able to touch it up and blend it in to where it would be 90% invisible. With silver...thats pretty much impossible. Hides minor stuff like swirls, but amplifies larger stuff like rock chips, deep scratches and touch ups. I think next time I might go something Nebula Greyish.

I saw my neighbor's kid playing a bicycle in our parking lot when I got home today. If I see a dent tomorrow I'm requesting the surveillance videos. lol

Another angle for the actual scratched part. Assuming the dings can be removed its VERY minor, but its right up there where I'm going to see it every time I walk around the car, and something about it is just worse given that I'm the one who caused the damage...

You can probably wet sand it out. I never got brave enough to do sanding on my car though. The PDR guy should be able to take care of it.

That's an extremely tight fit in your garage there....wow!

^I noticed the same thing. I'd be afraid of closing the garage door on my back bumper!

All PDR'd! Turned out great. I'll see about having the scratch touched up and wetsanded by a professional...not something I have a lot of experience doing lol. I'd hate to make it worse!

The fit in the back isn't as tight as it looks in the pictures (you can walk between the rear of the car and the garage door, and also walk between the front and the wall) but yeah, its a pretty tight garage!

Sorry Steve... Fixing the dents is not bad but that scratch doesn't look too friendly. At the least your lease end is not too far out. Good luck.

I don't have a huge garage nor too tight one but I like to keep the front as much clear as possible. I find the horizontal lines from the back camera extremely useful in this case. I line one of the lines up with the edge of the garage and my b*tt is still clear while getting the most possible space in the front.
