Default 8Speed Cold Rough Shifting

I have 3,500 miles on my RWD '14 F Sport. I have been noticing since its been getting colder, that the transmission is jerky for about the first 5 miles of my morning drive. It's like that even if I let my car warm up for a minute, instead of just taking off right when I start it. It's a lot more hesitant to downshift one gear for an incline. And when it does, it's slow, sloppy and then clunks. What about you guys?

Edit: Closest dealer is 4 hours away so I'm not sure when I'll have the chance to leave it overnight to have it looked at.

I drive slow when it's still cold and let it shift very early. But when the temp. needle is almost halfway (normal operating temp.) all hell break loose.

Lol but even driving slow, it still has to shift. And when mine does its wonky.

I have the 6 speed and its the same thing. The transmission retards the upshifts and really limits the downshifts. It's programming it seems.

I have the 2014 GS and when cold mine does the same thing. Its like our GSs are not morning people and only shifts good when COMPLETELY warm. 1 minute warmup time is not enough to help. You need to at least warm up 5 minutes or more and in really cold mornings might take 10 minutes before our GS will get to normal operating temp. But once I take my time to warmup my car it shifts buttery smooth and more responsive too. I have the remote start so I start mine every morning before to leave for work. Thats why I rarely experiance what you were experiancing.

7 speed Merc auto boxes do this too. It'll be due to the viscosity of the ATF at low temps..

I would strongly advise to warm the car for at least 5 minutes when its cold, and generally at least 1 minutes even i the summer.

Yea I warm my car real good before start driving it, maybe thats why mine is always smooth. I start driving when the needle go past the bottom line.

Yep I have had the same issue and I told the dealer but as usual they couldn't replicate it but it does it all the time, also when put in manual its worse.

Makes no sense at all.

Ours shifts fine when cold - no difference at all between warm and cold.

At RPMs below 3k it's buttery smooth still. If you try to take the engine anywhere north of that the transmission throws a fit lol. This is characteristic on the 6 and 8 speed which seemingly means the ECU retards semi aggressive shifts (more so than other car makers) maybe for the sake of longevity??

^^But I'm having this issue when cold, at all rpms. Say you were slightly accelerating, around 3k rpms or slightly lower, and you let off the gas to coast.. It upshifts obviously, but when it does it wants to fall on its face. The tach is bouncing around and the the tranny is clunking and shoving. It's weird. But only when its cold. Guess I'll just live with it since I'm at least not the only one with stupid cold shifting. It shifts like its lost when it's cold. And roughly..

While I may not have that problem, I have that jerking when shifting to 3rd in manual mode.

On a slow moving traffic, when I shift to 3rd gear and let go of the gas (cause the guy in front is slowing down), I feel the transmission is jerking, like it's stalling, probably the same as what Sick is experiencing and I could replicate at any time. This is under normal operating temp.

It happens mostly on 3rd gear and sometimes 4th. This also happened to the 2014 Premium I traded in as well. I think it's just the characteristics of the transmission.
