If you look at the top of the glass you should see the edge of the tint.

Default gs 350 awd premium w cold package window tint

I'm new to the club and was wondering if anyone has had any problems with their window tint. I'm thinking about tinting all 5 windows and read somewhere that tint will scratch due to the felt that's in the window frame. Is this true, if so i will not be wasting my money

I have tints and no scratches on them at all. Maybe a cheap tint will scratch, but if you go to a reputable tint shop and they use a quality tint you will have no issue.

Only think I wish I knew before was about ceramic tints they block the heat better than regular tints, not just the light. They are more expensive, but worth it.

Thanks!!! I'm going to be looking at pricing for ceramic or 3m crystalline. Was looking to do the front windshield as well but with Maryland tint laws I don't want to risk it.

Buy 3M Crystalline and make sure you tint the front windshield. The front tint is clear but blocks the sun so well you don't even need sunglasses. Plus it will keep your cabin cool. Its not cheap though...cost 1200 to do the entire car including front.

Walk inside install bay and watch them pull right from the roll you paid for.
Sad to say, dirty untrustworthy practices happening rampantly.

And yes, do the windshield also.
I can't believe people don't do the windshield. Do 70% if you don't want it dark. My last car was 50% with a 5% visor strip, didn't need sunglasses.

Not all states allow the front windshield to be tinted.

He is talking about a clear tint - would not be noticeable.

Clear tint and all states allow it. Its a must in TEXAS - in my opinion. 3M has a really cool tint product out right now. It blocks out heat and sun.

The only place my tint has gotten scratched is in a couple places on the very top of the glass where the window goes into the top of the door. My guess is I had a little dirt stuck in the top part that scratched it. Doesn’t matter much to me.

I’ve my car tinted since I bought it two years ago. The tint on the driver side started rolling up after a month of tinting it (due to much more use then the passenger side). Took it back to the place, they tinted it again and recommended that instead of not lowering the window for a week, to try to not lower it for two weeks due to the dual pane. That did the trick! Havent had an issue since then. Only thing I would recommend is to fully allow the tint to dry, if you want to play it safe go 3 weeks without lowering it after tinting it.

Not just better, MUCH better! After having ceramic and metallized, it is so obvious when I'm in a car with regular dyed film. The metallized film can interfere with GPS and radar detectors, so you pay an even higher premium for ceramic.

And if you go to a reputable shop, you'll get lifetime guarantee, free re-tints. The shop I went to reinstalled tint after a break-in, accident, and after 12 years when it started to peel. All free, the only cost to me was my time.

I had cold weather package with ceramic tints, no issues. Just make sure its a reputable shop, or better yet, do it yourself if you trust yourself. It's not rocket science.
