You can go 40+ miles when it says 0.

I've had mine to zero range but the needle wasn't quite dead on empty. Generally, the boy scout in me likes to keep them half full but I have no problem on a known stretch of hiway pushing it deeper, especially if I know the preferred station is within range. I've never been able to put more than 15 gallons in mine at zero unless I stand there and continually let it settle and top it off.

About 16.5 gallons of premium was most I've pumped one time. I think fuel tank capacity is slightly over 17 gallons.

I never have figured out why some people let their tank get almost empty before filling up.

I don't drive everyday so I fill-up maybe once a month, sometimes twice a month. Anyhow, the price difference between me in the City and when I go to Costco, a 5 minute drive into the burbs, can be as much as 50 to 90 cents a gallon. So I generally only fill up when I hit Costco, which is once or twice a month.

Same here, I fill up around every 2 weeks and really only want to go to Costco twice a month due to the long lines here in SoCal (Burbank area). So sometimes I take that risk, I know that there's at least about 2 gallons (about 36 miles to go for me before I really need to fill up) once I reach 0 cruising range.

I try to keep my free fill-ups down to 10 trips a month (between wife and I). Looks better on my work gas statement.
If we filled up when we hit every 1/4 tank we'd have a lot more trips on the statement - which I don't want.
