I've done it once and I was scared to death! lol
Don't risk it and fill it up early!

I've taken it close to zero. When i filled up, it took a little over than 15 gallons of gas. Sticker says the car comes equipped with a 17.4 gallon tank. So about 2.4 gallons for reserve, which is about 50 miles I'd say

I've pushed it 30-40 after, but only on occasion. I've found I fill up with 15.3-15.4 gallons when at 0 miles. So I figure about 2 gallons reserve as well.

I've done it once. I pushed it 20 miles after it went to zero. When I filled up, there was still about a gallon of gas left in the tank. I figure you can do around 40+ miles after the zero hits.

Here is a thread I started a while back. When your car hits Zero range, there is still about 2 gallons left in the tank by my estimate.

I never go that low.
1/4 tank the lowest for me.
"The gasoline acts like a coolant for the electric fuel-pump motor, so when you run very low, this allows the pump to suck in air, which creates heat and can cause the fuel pump to wear prematurely and potentially fail."

Ive actually tested this theory on my GS with my cousin a few weeks ago. I took a portable gas container and filled it up to full which is a good 2 gallons. My car was almost empty but still showed about 3 miles till empty. We drove around running errands and when the range meter hit zero miles till empty I reset the trip meter to zero and continued our errands. I hit the 54.6miles mark when my car started to hesitate. I pulled over immediatly, parked the car at whole foods and opened the trunk to grab the portable gas container and to my surprised it was not there. Apparently after filling up that gas container my cousin forgot to put it in my trunk while I was paying for it inside the station. We drove off without it and some lucky guy got 2 free gallons of premium gas.
But luckily we were not far from the nearest gas station and walked about one mile to get some gas and drove to the gas station and filled her up to about 14.9 gallons,(plus 2 gallons from the container) thats when the pump went click. I could possible put in another half gallon into the tank if I tried. Well after an amusing afternoon at least we learned that we can drive about 54 miles before really being empty.
