Default Heated Seats - Auto Decrease or Stays the same?

How does your heated seats control operation work? Does the heat control automatically decrease from position 3 > 2 > 1 > Off over-time? Or, does the heat control stay (remain) in whatever position (1 · 2 · 3) you select without any (auto) change?

What is the default operation - Auto Decrease or Stays the Same?

Does anyone know how to change the heated seat operation method? I recall seeing somewhere to hold both heated seat button controls down until it beeps to make a change in the method of operation...and doing the same again will change it back. Can anyone confirm that this (change) method to be accurate?

The 2013 GSs do not have an auto button for heated and cooled seats. So in those cars its set at factory to decrease cooling or heating over time, unless it set at dealer to stay in current mode. This is a dealer adjustable setting. Many 2013 owners have changed this setting. If you have a 2014 -2015 GS then you will have a Auto mode. First generation model year adopters always get the short end of the stick.

Ann example of what i am talking about is this.

2013 does not have but 2014 does have Auto mode climate seat. Power trunk. Power folding mirrors. Full color heads up display (hud) instead of just green.

2014 does not have but 2015 has bird eye view navigation with 3d buildings. Predictive back up camera that shows moving guidance lines. HD radio live traffic.

The Auto in my 2014 works according to the temp u have set in the HVAC system.

If u set 78 on a cold morning, say around 55 degrees (yes 55 degrees is cold for us in Cali ) then the seat heater will turn on. It will come out strong at first then lowers gradually and turns off. Mine is really strong for some reason and it heats up really fast that I have to turn it off manually sometimes.

If it's hot outside (like in the 80s+) and u have the HVAC set to 72 or lower, it turns on the seat fan to cool it off, then after a while it changes to a lower settings or turns off.

But in order for the Auto seats to work ur HVAC need to be in Auto as well. If u have it in manual mode the seats will not auto adjust. For example, if I have the HVAC at Lo (lowest temp) the seats will blow cold air at full speed and won't change settings, same with heat.

Do you know if this same method of operation you've described applies to the 2013 GS 350 also?

I don't think so. Well u can always try it but I don't think it works the same way if u don't have Auto seats.

2013s don't have the climate concierge feature. You have to choose heat or cooling manually.

So I called my dealer today and the service dept tells me this isnt possible. Its a safety thing and unfortunately it can not be overridden... What to do?

You can change the setting yourself with carista.

Otherwise you need to hook it up to techstream.

This is another example of a Dealership giving out wrong information.

Just like the post above, you can change this with the right programmable device. I changed mine to stay the same using Carista.

So did I just read this right? I went to Carista and for $20 I can buy the adapter and I will get a free 30 days to tweak my settings including my heater setting? Freaking dealer :-(

So per the Manual for my '15: Looks like you cycle the switch through the desired level, or to AUTO setting?

Its different for the 13. Clearly states in the manual that the auto step down mode is all you get. Not for long. Just ordered my Carista. Appreciate the help guys!!
