Lease Equity

doubtful. high residuals/low payments = no equity at end of lease.
low residual/high payment = good equity at end of lease.
i was paying 450/month for a lancer evo x, (34K) car, and at end of lease i sold it to carmax and made $4k.
with my '13 GS i was about 4-5k upside down at lease end.

I had equity in my 2010 ES and my 2011 Jeep leases. Not in the GS though, residual is too high. Thats okay, payment is low.

I've only leased Infinitis (which also have an inflated residual value to keep the payments low) and have never had any equity at the end of the lease. Then again, Infinitis don't hold their value as well as Lexuses.
With that said, used GS's seem to be going pretty cheap so I wouldn't expect any lease equity on a GS either.

This is a rather interesting chart that shows the percentage of people who elect to lease luxury vehicles in lieu of buying them.

I then took it to Car Max and got a significantly higher offer. I brought the offer back to the dealer and was told that their quote is lower because of the "thousands" they have to spend to make the vehicle "Certified Pre Owned". After just staring at the sale guy with an incredulous look and a question "And why should that be my issue?", he slunk away and talked to the dealership owner.
They matched the Car Max offer and that resolved the question!
