I gotta admit...i think the power is a disappointment. Theres no excuse for just dropping the RC-F's motor in the thing untuned. They should have easily been able to get 500hp out of this motor, hell if they could have gotten at 487 at least they could have said they did what they said they were going to do...tune it for more power.

As for styling...I'll have to see it in person. One thing I dislike about the spindle grille is the fact that they put the Lexus emblem up so high in the grille, thats one thing I really like about the RCF vs an RC F Sport, is the emblem is a little lower in the grill which overall I think looks much better. I also don't like how the top of the grille sits so far back from the center of the grill.

An example of what I mean:

RC-F:

RC F Sport:

Just moving that emblem down 2 inches and overall making the grill more uniformly muscular instead of having it jut out so far in the first 4 inches or so from the hood does a lot for looks IMHO.

People said the same about the LFA's power being 'only' 552hp while cars like the Ferrari 599 were over 600hp. Yeah, itd be nice if it was 500+hp, but its not.
Agree with this. 500 hp is just a nice round number. There's nothing mystical about. Unless you use this car to race on a regular basis, getting the 500Hp car is just "peacock's tail" wagging. People need to ask themselves: why am I buying this car? What's the motive? Bragging rights? Ego trip? If the car meets your needs, buy it. If not, move on.

I have always agreed with you on this, you are the one who is stuck on the F badge

The "F" is only double sided taped on you know, the "500" badge will be available soon from the LC500

Do you want me to swap it for you?

They dropped the ball on this one. They are debuting the GS-F with a 8 year old IS-F engine. Its a nice engine, but seriously?

Your 2013 GS350's engine came straight out of the 2006 IS350, you still bought it

When will anyone ever NEED 600 horsepower ?
The GS F will be more attainable than an AMG or M, so it will sale better by volume imho . I'd rather pay $85,000 or a 467 hp GS F opposed to $100,000 for a 600 hp GS F.
Not sure if I've ever seen more than 10 BMW M5's on the road .
Lexus made their choice. Love it or leave it!

I think they gave their best. It's just not enough. Two mistakes that many before me pointed out:
1. Branded GS500 this would have been the bomb. But as GS-F, they shot themselves in the foot.
2. You don't pluck an IS engine into a GS and call it top of the line.

Personally, the big disappointment is not the HP but the torque: that's 3.0 liter turbo territory, not M5 beating supercar. On the other hand, all Lexus models are underpowered compared to the Germans, so this just continues the tradition. And then, there are the funny comments like "the engines are underpowered because they're tuned for reliability". That must be taken from Lexus' marketing bible.

I think Lexus should quit the German comparison, they would do much better.

$90K and 500 - 550hp would have been an ideal for this car. Imagine BMW debuts their next M5 with M3 numbers, that's what happened here. Why buy this car when you can get the RC-F, same engine and specs, plus you'd be saving money.

Yes 500 would have been ideal , I do agree but this is what Lexus gave us for now.

Why buy a GS 350 when you could buy an is 350 ? More car , better interior materials.

The rc f is more on line with a IS than a GS

I'm okay with the hp as long as a well equipped car can be bought in the mid to upper $70s - as it will compare with a BMW 550 with 445 hp. I think they tried too hard with the styling - inside and out (at least in the pictured car interior). As someone earlier mentioned and I mentioned in a post when the teaser pics came out, the grill just doesn't work with the otherwise conservative styling.

I still like the car and for the right price would consider one though.

Mark my words, the GSF will not be priced anywhere near $100k like the M5 though.
