GSF wont be that price, it will probably be a little more expensive than a 550 M Sport which will easily be beaten by a GSF that weighs 300# lighter with more power.
You forget (or you don't know) that the 550 has 100 more lb-ft from much lower in the RPM range. That makes a huge difference. The cars performance will be evenly matched, with the 550 a better daily driver (softer, more usable power).

I applaud Lexus for its measured, evolutionary approach to making new cars. I applaud it for avoiding the temptation to engage in a horsepower arms race with the Germans. If the goal is merely to make a 1000 HP car with 1000 lb ft of torque, I'm sure Toyota/Lexus - with all its money - can do that. But it's not all about HP and torque (unless you are a teenage racer wannabe who fantasizes about cars you can't afford to buy anyway). But this car is a sensible, responsible product that balances power, sportiness, and luxury.
That's all nice and great if the price would start from $65k. But Lexus built this to be an M5 rival, so the price will probably start from $85k. That's where the problem lies, that this is not a reasonably priced GS550 as you describe it to be.

When did Lexus say they built this to be an M5 rival? You're saying that...obviously they don't feel that way.

As I said before, my guess is this will start in the early $70s and be well loaded by $80k.

Can you post a link or reference where it says that "Lexus built it to be an M5 rival"?

Bad News = This car is stillborn. Nobody will buy it.

Good News = Pick one up for 45k in 3 years with 20k miles on it.

People will buy this car as much as they buy any V8 midsize luxury car...which is not very much. But, people will buy it. It will be quite low volume production wise anyways.

I think that is totally wrong. First of all, if they built it to compete with the M it would have 100 more hp. Look at the M4 vs RCF. The typical RC lists for low 70s and a typical M4 is north of 80. My BMW dealer had one on his lot that listed for 90.

Maybe I'll turn out to be wrong, I'm betting a totally gut loaded GSF will be around 80, and that a well equipped version will be between 75-80. If it is anymore the car will be a flop.

only if you look at 0-60. The 14 IS350 nearly matches the 08 ISF on C&D Lightning Lap, obviously not due to the engine but how much better the chassis and suspension is over the 2IS chassis.

The GSF is aimed at buyers who like the GS 350 but want more power. It is not aimed specifically to compete against the M5. Those who say they are disappointed that the GSF does not match the M5 are trapped in a straw man fallacy of their own making. The M5 is a false benchmark against which to compare the GSF.

Hey, hey, don't take it out on me, ain't my fault you guys are disappointed I was pointing the obvious, and what 95% of the ppl and the media will say. IS F, RC F, GS F and any other XX F out there are seen as M/AMG/RS competitors.

I really hope that I'm wrong and this will start from $65 but I don't think it's gonna happen.

Its not going to start from $65k, nor should it. But, like I said I bet it starts in the early $70s.

A fully loaded GS350 can be $65k.

Could be the angulation of the camera but IMO the hood looks a little too steep in the side picture. Not so much on the straight shot. How are the 2IS and ISF compared? Any difference? Looking at these pictures again, if the hood is adjusted a bit (as in the attached picture), it does not look much different from the concept car IMO. Maybe it looks better in person. On a side note, surprisingly wife gave a green light.
