That's a very honest & solid offering of an engine. To put that in perspective the one company I use as a benchmark for V8 is Porsche. Their Panamera GTS naturally aspirated V8 is 4.8L has 440 hp. But there your talking about starting at $113k or so.

Just for fun look at the option list on the Panamera towards the bottom of the page. I sort of wish Lexus would do the same. You could spend a week and if your wife had a say a (month or two)choosing the options. Lol. Go cross eyed.

Yep, my dad used to laugh at Mercedes Benz after spending some time in Germany and Switzerland. He said they're taxi cars over there, because they offered every model as "strippers" and they were cheap. It's the huge array of options that make them better. 30 year later and they're still playing the same options game.

On the plus side, if you really, really want a cheap BMW or Benz, you can still order a stripper.

I saw a lot of stripper 320i's around here, they just want the badge.

A 528i with the same options as my GS costs well over 60K. This is where Lexus wins, more bang for ur bucks!

i don't think the rcf and gsf engines are super good or bad, i think it's right at the norm.

4L V8 in the e9x m3 makes 414hp
5L V8 in the isf makes 415hp
5L V8 in the rcf / gsf makes 467hp
6.2L V8 in the e63 makes 518hp

Depending on which engine, but the new engine line is turbocharged.
Example:
previous C63 AMG: 6.2L V8 N/A = 451-507 hp
current C63 AMG: 4.0L V8 twin turbo = 469-503 hp

Previous S63 AMG: 5.5L V8 twin turbo = 536 hp
Current S63 AMG: 5.5L V8 twin turbo = 577 hp

from 07-11/12, most amg 63 were all 6.2L NA V8. that was a wonderful engine

after that they have all gone with tt v8 but stay with "63" series. and that engine is 5.5L

for S63 from 07-11, it's the 6.2L V8. the bi-turbo w221 s63 were from 12-13

Don't forget the (no longer sold in US) Audi RS5
