Detail at dealership

Paint feeling a bit rough..Had it for about 8months and getting the first 5k service Tuesday at Lexus of Orlando. Service is free of course and mostly pointless but that damn caution light on dashboard is freaking me out so forced to take it in...they offered me a detail (wash, wax and clean engine compartment, vacuum) for 109+tax..anyone have any experiences(cost, quality of service, etc) with detailing your car at your local Lexus dealer?
Dealership has no idea what they're doing when "detailing" and they rub the ***** out of the paint. Stay far away especially if you have Obsidian Black!!!

I had my 5k service on New Years Eve. I completely forgot to mention that I did not want a car wash. I got my car back and drove off, didn't think twice to check it out. About two weeks after that, I was washing my car and I noticed a huge scratch on my roof. Now I don't have any proof if it was the dealership, but I will always wonder.

I have an appointment for this Saturday morning for the Presidnetial Detail at Lexus of Orlando...after reading some of these posts, I'm wondering if I should cancel it?

I would cancel it for sure.
Must be plenty of good detailers in Orlando.

There's a whole forum on here for detailing. One bit of advice, if you take a clay bar to your car to get the "rough" feel off, you better also get the polisher out. Pull up YouTube and search for "Junkman" posts. That guy knows his stuff.
It's a never ending cycle though...

If you use a mild clay you can certainly use it without introducing marring to the finish.

If it's as soft as Acura it will marr if you breathe on it wrong, but easy to correct...if it's as hard as Mercedes, you may be able to clay without marring, but when you marr it's very hard to correct, and requires very expensive polish to do the correction....
They term everyone needs to be familiar with is paint correction....if you don't know about paint correction, then I wouldn't be taking a clay bar all your car

I've been detailing cars for many years and have clayed many cars without needing paint correction afterwards.

Me either, unless u drop the clay and it picks up dirt and u reuse it. My paint has been crystal clear and I always check for paint damage with a flashlight.

I took mine to Lexus to detail... Made MORE scratches and left burn makes from the buffer. When I questioned them, they said the "paint" was already like that. I am like the car is brand new, how are there going to be buffer burn makes on it?? I let my AMEX handle the chargeback and provided them pictures.
