Can someone explain how it's done? Is it still a DVD? Or is it done by the USB? Can it be shared? So if I have a friend with a 2014 GS as well, can we split the cost and both update using the same DVDs/usb?

Done with usb. Not sure about being able to use it together but would be good idea if possible.

One time only and to add insult to injury must be dealer installed

IMO it's pure BS that the dealer has to install it. Don't mind paying for an update, but balk at the dealer charging me 1 hr. Labor just to install!
